The doctor says I’m ‘high risk’. What does that mean, exactly?

“High Risk” in pregnancy is a medical term that doctors often use. What it means is that there is something about your pregnancy that put you at a higher risk for a complication than the average pregnant woman. It does not mean you will have complications for sure, but it does mean that you are at higher risk, so you and your doctors need to be extra careful.

It is important for you to find a doctor who has experience dealing with the specific factors that make your pregnancy high risk.
