The only way I really know how to boost your metabolism is to exercise. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other ways?

I can't say I've tried it myself, but I've heard good things about the metabolism-boosting abilities of cayenne pepper :)

I've heard all of these suggestions before. It was nice to read them again and be reminded of how I can squeeze a bit more movement into my day!

This is just a copy-and-paste from another article I found...

Isometric Exercise #1: Stationary Abdominal Crunch

One isometric exercise you can do at your desk to keep your abs in fabulous shape is the stationary abdominal crunch. This exercise is similar to the regular crunch, but you can do it sitting at your desk whenever you want to and without drawing any attention to yourself. Simply sit up straight while sitting at your desk, with your feet flat on the floor. Contract your abdominal muscles as you would during a floor crunch and hold the contraction for at least ten seconds. Repeat at least 2 to 3 times each session.

I'm going to give it a try!

While cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes (due to the Capsaicin found in chili peppers), CLA (supplement), and caffeine may boost your metabolism a slight amount, it is not enough to cause the pounds to drop off.

Yet another theory is the supposed negative-calorie foods such as cabbage as many believe your body will burn more calories chewing and digesting this high fiber food than the food itself contains.

My recommendation? Perhaps not the miracle method you are hoping for, but muscle is the absolute best way to boost your metabolism as these cells will be burning more calories than your fat cells all day long. I love building long, lean muscles though pilates, hiking, and basic free-weights.

Every time you move your body you are burning calories, so why not take a break from the computer and shake things up? ;)

Eating at least 3 meals a day. There is a good amount of research that shows that people who skip meals tend to gain weight and have a hard time loosing weight.

This makes sense from a survival perspective. When we skip meals our body goes into "starvation mode" where it is worried about not getting enough food, so when it does get food it tries to pack on as many pounds as it can.

    Stay healthy,

    Dr. Jeff M.D.
