"The Journey of My Life"

By

Hola Everyone,

Well I am someone that weighed 260lbs. I disliked exercising, I was always tired.. I HATED MY LIFE.. Then I decided to do something about it.. I started out walking for 20min 3 times a week & slowly ate a little less..Then lost my first 5lbs. I was so excited.. Then I upped the ante a bit.. I started walking 30min 3x's a week & kept losing.. Then I really challenged myself, so I started walking 30min 6x's a week, wow incredible.."Then I wanted to run a 5k..& so I did, I trained really hard & I was able to run my first 5k last November..Woohoo, then after the holidays I hit a plateau, my daddy got real sick, & had to back off on some stuff.. but now I am down 47lbs, & still trying to lose 63 lbs more, slowly but surely I will get there. So now I am setting mini goals for myself, but with daddy still sick & all I am going to try to get under my 200lb mark by the end of December which I kno I can do, Iam only 14lbs away..I am hoping to meet new people here, to try to challenge me..thanks for reading..

Wow. Yvonne! Your story is so inspiring!

Too many people feel that they simply are the way they are, and despite wishing things were better for themselves, they feel there is nothing they can really do to change their situation. Others may truly believe change is possible, but choose not to exert the effort to make it happen.

It's not an easy or comfortable thing to change - especially they way you did.It can be overwhelming. It's a whole different lifestyle you're living! But you resisted the the urge to make excuses for why you couldn't improve your life and you overcame doubt and uncertainty.

Though I've never been very overweight, I have not always been as thin as I am now. I'm between 4 and 6 dress sizes smaller than I used to be! Cutting red meat out of my diet was really hard as a girl that loved the taste, but it made a big difference. Going on regular walks was also a big part of my weight loss. Like you, I agree, very structured diets don't work for me. Rather, I make sensible choices. When I select bread, I compare and contrast nutrient content rather than ban it from my house. When selecting a snack I try and reach for veggies or fruits or something substantial, rather than restricting my eating to three daily meals.

The hardest part is really getting started, Yvonne You've come so far, I can't imagine you failing now! Keep it up! You're an example to us all! :)

Yvonne, I agree with Erin - your story is incredible! So inspirational :) I'm just attempting to start a workout routine now, so I'm curious - what are you doing for your workouts?

I look forward to following your journey!
