Surgery is Not the Answer for Shrinkage Dysfunction

By

There are many treatment options available for shrinkage dysfunction. While surgery is one option to correct shrinkage dysfunction, it is essential that you discuss all of the potential side effects and complications associated with the decision to have surgery. There may be other options that are just as effective that do not require surgery.

Shrinkage Dysfunction: Treatment Options

There are a wide variety of treatment options for shrinkage dysfunction ranging from oral medications, hormone replacement therapies, penis pumps, natural methods including lifestyle and dietary changes, penile implants, sex therapy, psychological counseling and vascular surgery.

Shrinkage Dysfunction and Vascular Surgery

Typically, surgery is only recommended by a physician if there is obvious blocking of blood flow to the pelvic area or the penis Therefore, surgery is typically only a successful form of treatment when the presence of a vascular blockage exists (which is a small proportion of the overall diagnosed individuals with shrinkage dysfunction). The goal of vascular surgery is to physically remove any blockages within the arteries that are cause for impeding or blocking blood flow to the penis. This is done in the overall goal of restoring normal function without the use of medications. However, there is limited evidence to show the long term effects of surgery. As with any surgery, there is possibility for the development of certain complications and there is an increased risk for chances of infection. It should be noted that vascular surgery is an expensive option.

Shrinkage Dysfunction and Penile Implant Surgery

Penile implant surgery is only recommended by physicians after all other methods of treatment for shrinkage dysfunction have been tried and failed. This surgery is used for the insertion of small devices along both sides of the penis. Once implanted, the user has complete control over the duration of time an erection will occur, as often as desired. There are typically two options for penile implants including the semi rigid rod and inflatable implants. The semi rigid rod is responsible for the maintenance of an erection at all times. The inflatable implants are controlled by the user. Again, as with all surgeries, there are certain complications associated including increased infection risks. Again, this surgery is typically expensive. It should also be noted that there are limited studies as to the use of penile implants.

Shrinkage Dysfunction, Surgery, and You So the question becomes: Is surgery the answer for shrinkage dysfunction? The answer to that question is completely dependent upon your preferences and your physician's recommendations. Surgery is typically only recommended by physicians as a last resort mechanism when no other alternative treatment methods have been successful. It is important that you take the time to research the treatment methods available for shrinkage dysfunction, as surgery is not always the best answer. Once you have researched the treatment options, contact your physician and discuss the method or methods of treatment that are best for you. Remember that there are also natural treatment options available, including supplementation and certain dietary and lifestyle changes that can aid in the treatment of sexual dysfunctions.
