  Now that my anatomy is a bit different, I got a dog tag engraved on a DIY machine at the grocery store, listing my name along with ULCERATIVE COLITIS / TOTAL COLECTOMY / WITH ILEOSTOMY. I'm also getting a caduceus charm to go with the dog tag. I figured this would be a cool way to let a first responder know my situation in the (hopefully unlikely) event that something bad happens to me.

  I didn't want to go with an expensive custom bracelet because I plan to have another surgery which would change the situation, plus most of the designs I saw were honestly very ugly. So a fairly inexpensive dog-tag that I can switch out later plus a charm that's used as a symbol for the medical community seemed like a better option.

  Does this sound like a good enough plan? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

  I think that sounds like a great plan. Better to go the inexpensive route than pay way too much for something that's not very nice looking. you are going to be wearing this all the time, so you want have it be something you like. I used to have a necklace and a bracelet that had my health conditions on it. So I think a dog tag works perfectly. Whether it be something you wear around your neck or wrist...anything is better than nothing! :)

  It might seem like a pain to do, it is better to protect your children now, then wait until something bad
