Losing Weight Naturally

By

It seems like everyone wants to lose weight these days. Whether you're overweight, or just wish you looked more like the actors on your TV, you probably want to lose at least a few pounds. But chances are, you don't want to hire a personal trainer and spend hours at the gym. Luckily, there are a few things you can do that should come naturally. Here's how you can lose weight naturally.

Use food as an appetite suppressant

This may sound crazy, but eating the right foods can make you less hungry. This is because they are absorbed by your body more slowly, making you feel full longer. Try these foods:

  • Eggs: This breakfast staple will fill you up and help keep you from snacking later in the day. We now know the cholesterol in the yolks won't increase your blood cholesterol. They are high calorie, though, so don't eat too many.
  • Beans: These high-fiber legumes contain cholecystokinin, a natural appetite suppressant.
  • Salad: Eating a salad before a meal (with low-fat dressing) will fill you up with low-calorie vegetables and keep you from overeating during the main course.
  • Green tea: The antioxidants found in green tea, catechins, have been shown to speed up your metabolism, decrease appetite and burn more fat.
  • Pears and apples: These fruits contain lots of fiber, especially pectin fiber, which decreases blood sugar levels and keeps you from snacking.
  • Soup: Water-based soups are low in calories but still fill you up.
  • Lean meat: This protein source contains the amino acid leucine, which keeps you full and helps you lose weight while maintaining muscle mass.
  • Nuts: They have a lot of calories, but they seem to be worth it: people who snack on nuts consume less at meals and increase their metabolism. Bonus: some nuts, like walnuts, contain omega-3 fatty acids.

It is possible to lose weight naturally. Obviously, adding exercise to your daily routine and improving your diet are always helpful. In addition, there are many foods that you probably already like to eat, like eggs, nuts and soup, which can also improve your diet and help your weight loss. You may also want to try supplements to help in the process. Remember, supplements have to build up in your system for several weeks before you notice any change.
