2012 Superbowl Ads to Feature More Dogs!

By
From the The Kibble Blog Series

Hello again and welcome to this week's The Kibble. If dog lovers aren’t yet excited for what the Superbowl has in store, you will be now!

Our furry friend is going to be represented well during the commercial breaks this year because some companies are choosing to feature dogs as the “stars” in their commercials.

Cultural anthropologist, Robbie Blinkoff states, "You can't go wrong with a dog. The dogs are idealized versions of ourselves. The dogs aren't dogs — they're us."

That mindset seems to be a good choice for companies that are shelling out big bucks for ads this year. According to NBC, a 30-second superbowl ad costs 3.5 million dollars. Makes me wonder how much money a 60-second or 90-second ad costs.

Dogs aren't just a safe investment, but they are popular among the masses. They are actually becoming more popular than using celebrities in advertisements. (Don’t tell Kim Kardashian, but a bull dog beat her out of a spot in the Skechers ad this year. Shhhh.)

Companies to Feature Dogs

Volkswagen
Last year, Volkswagen featured a pet dog for a brief moment in their Superbowl Commerical where a boy believes he used “The Force” to make the car open. This year, Volkswagen will be featuring dogs even more in their commercial “The Bark Side.”

Anheuser-Busch InBev
This year A-B will have a dog featured in two commercials this year. One in their Budweiser commercial and the other in their Bud Light Commercial. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a sneak peek, so you’ll have to wait to see this one until Sunday!

Skechers
This year Skecher’s star will be a French bulldog named Mr. Quiggly. He wears special skecher’s brand shoes and attempts to race a pack of greyhounds. Play the sneak peak below!

Remember to look for these ads during the superbowl to see your favorite canine companion!

Which Advertisement out of the three do you think you will enjoy the most?
