Has anyone here ever noticed a connection between poor digestion and skin health? I've been reading a lot about rosacea because I think I may have it, and it seems there may be a link with digestion.1/24

It's a bacteria that is good in some amounts in the intestinal tract, but if something spurs it into overgrowth it can create a wide array of problems including skin ones. May be worth looking into. It COULD also be that some sort of food intolerance is contributing to your skin problems and that would obviously cause problems with digestion as well.1/26

  I suppose food intolerance is a possibility, but I'm not sure what that would be. I thought it could be the almonds I added to my diet, but going off of them didn't change a thing.1/26

  One of the trickiest things about food intolerance is the way it develops. It's a chicken and the egg sort of issue debate, but a "leaky gut" begets food intolerance and food intolerance begets a leaky gut.
  
  As food pass through our system and it's nutrients are absorbed very small particles of it enter the blood stream. Normally, that's not a problem. It's purified and cleansed from our system, but when we eat a lot of the same foods and often OR when our intestinal tract becomes more permeable for some reason (and there are lots of things that might cause that) our immune system has a longer time to spot it and may decide it's an invader it needs to protect us from.
  
  That's why it's typically the most common foods we become intolerant to - milk, wheat, nuts, ect. Yet, it's not like an allergy where you know instantly there's a problem. Symptoms can range in their severity and the time they take to appear and the way the manifest.
  
  A good indication would be an upset stomach, gasiness or other digestive problems from a half hour to 2 hours after a meal, but that doesn't always happen.
  
  See? Tricky! Pretty much the only sure way of discovering food intolerance is through and elimination diet - which I've thought about undertaking, but sounds like a major pain. :P1/26

  Food intolerance SUCKS. And so does the elimination diet. :P Haha. I'm not yet to the point where I'm going to try that, but who knows. Right now I'm thinking of trying some probiotics and digestive enzymes, and I'm going to do a one-week "clean eating" challenge, and see if that helps.
  
  I'm also going to start juicing more often. Juice is awesome because it allows the nutrients to basically go right into the bloodstream. Have you heard of the documentary "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead"?1/26
