Banaba Leaf Helps Diabetics by Boosting Insulin Naturally

By

Almost every prescription drug on the market has some type of negative side effect or can lead to even more serious medical conditions when consumed. Many view prescription and over the counter medications as a testament of our scientific growth and advancement. However, what we actually think to be growth and advancement could possibly be the journey down the wrong path. Thousands of years ago people were able to treat ailments and diseases much more effectively and with no side effects with natural and herbal medicine. Maybe they had it right all along because now we are rediscovering that plants and herbs that grow naturally on the earth do serve many purposes in our survival and our health. Banaba leaf is just one example of a natural plant that helps heal and treat medical conditions.

Health Benefits of Banaba Leaf

The banaba leaf comes from the banaba plant which contains medicinal properties. The banaba plant grows naturally in India, Asia, and the Philippines. Banaba leaf can be used alone or in combination with other herbs and plant extracts. Banaba leaf can be consumed in a tea, powder, pill, or tablet. The extract from the banaba leaf contains a substance known as corosolic acid. Corsolic acid actually lowers and maintains blood sugar levels and helps control food cravings. The corosolic acid stimulates the glucose transport of the cells thus lowering and maintaining blood sugar levels naturally. It also naturally reduces the cravings for carbohydrates and sweets. Because of this it has been used to treat and control diabetes as well as used for weight loss.

People suffering with hypoglycemia are cautioned not to use banaba leaf or banaba extract because it could worsen their condition or lower their blood sugar to dangerous levels. Studies show that the corosolic acid in banaba is a very safe and effective treatment. In a study done in 2006 corosolic acid was given people with type 2 diabetes for 4 to 8 weeks. During that time every participant in the study experienced a reduction of their blood sugar levels by 5 to 30 percent. All the participants also experienced less fluctuations and spikes in their blood sugar levels and an average weight loss of about 3 pounds a month with any changes to the diet. There were no negative side effects reported by the participants or any additional medical complications.

How to Control Diabetes Naturally

Banaba does naturally reduce and maintain blood sugar levels. However, it has been found that in order for it to be fully effective Banaba should be used in combination with other natural ingredients and supplements. These ingredients include: cinnamon, bitter melon, huckleberry, zinc, chromium, biotin, and gymnema sylvestre. Some supplements only contain some of the ingredients that are needed to help control blood sugar levels naturally.
