  The common cold has several names “the cold”, “the common cold”, “URI”, or “upper respiratory infection” to name a few. It is actually caused by over 200 different viruses. These viruses specifically attack the back of the throat and sinuses causing cytokine release and inflammation of the mucus membranes.
