Is there any truth to the theory that diet can impact cancer?

That is a great question. While it has not yet been proven that one single food will prevent cancer or that one single food will definitely cause cancer, there is strong evidence that certain foods do increase our risk of cancer.

I believe that there most definitely is. Research has identified a link with the nitrites/nitrates in processed meats and also the acrylamide that is formed when you char your food on the grill.

There is also evidence that antioxidants/phytonutrients found in plant foods will help reduce inflammation in our bodies which is known to reduce our risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Because our dietary intake is also linked with our weight status and an increased weight status is believed to be associated with certain types of cancer (including breast), this demonstrates yet another way that diet is linked with cancer.
