How can you recognize the symptoms of seasonal allergies verses cold symptoms?

It can be difficult at times for even doctors to recognize the difference between allergy and cold symptoms! However, there are a few key differences:

    Colds tend to:

    • Have more severe symptoms. • Have more total body symptoms such as “fatigue, muscle aches, shivering, loss of appetite, fever” • Have the symptoms peak out after 3 to 5 days and gradually get better with most of the symptoms resolving in 7 to 10 days.

    Seasonal allergies tend to:

    • Start within 30min to an hour of exposure. • Do not have total body symptoms. • Have more itching.

    Stay Healthy, Dr. Jeff M.D.
